FEMA has approved the Governor’s request to activate the FEMA Transitional Sheltering Assistance program – also known as TSA
-You cannot apply for this specific program
-After you register with FEMA, you will be notified if you qualify for temporary sheltering in a hotel.
-FEMA will notify you by an automated phone call, text message, and email; however, FEMA does not find a hotel room for you.
-If you are eligible, you must find and book your own hotel room
-To be eligible, the hotel must be located in the following states: Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
-FEMA Transitional Sheltering Assistance is not a lodging reimbursement program – and will not pay you for hotel expenses
-FEMA pays the hotels directly

All Jefferson Parish residents in need of shelter due to Hurricane Ida should go to Kings Grant Playground, located at 3805 15th St. Harvey LA 70058. We will bring you back via bus once it is safe to return to your home or we are able to establish local shelters.

The Salvation Army USA will be distributing meals and cleaning supplies beginning at 12pm (Noon) on Wednesday, September 8th at the following locations:

ST. BERNARD PARISH

Cooling Center For Residents in St. Bernard Parish
St. Bernard Parish to open a Cooling Center for its residents that are vulnerable to the extreme heat we’re experiencing.
The center will be located at the Val Riess Multipurpose building located at 1101 Magistrate St., Chalmette, La 70043.
The Cooling Center will open each day beginning September 1st from 11am to 7:30pm and Closing after Friday, September 10th
-Proof of residency will be required.
-Pets are welcome but MUST be kept in an animal carrier at all times.
-Protective face coverings are required at all times.
-In addition to cooling off, the center will have cell phone charging stations and an area for medically electric dependent citizens.
FEMA will be opening a mobile registration center for Hurricane Ida survivors in St. Bernard Parish.
The center, called a Mobile Registration Intake Center (MRIC), is staffed with FEMA personnel who can assist with registration and answer questions about disaster-assistance programs. Center locations:

Cooling and Charging station Lacombe:
Recreation District 4 Gym in Lacombe will be open from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. daily as a cooling and charging station through Friday and possibly longer if still needed.
ST. CHARLES PARISH

The National Guard and GOHSEP have established a resource distribution site at the West Bank Bridge Park. 8 am-5pm or until supplies run out.
Ice, Water and MREs will be provided.
Residents should turn onto River Road from I-310 and will be directed to the location.
Do NOT use the levee to access the distribution site.
Effective September 4, 2021, at 7am, President Matthew Jewell has rescinded the mandatory evacuation order. Residents returning to the parish should continue to use caution on the roads as there is debris and power lines on the shoulders on many roads.
Residents should bring enough supplies to sustain themselves for a week including water, ice, food and fuel as power restoration could take 4-6 weeks.
ST. JAMES PARISH

- East Bank Location: Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Gramercy
- Sheriff’s department is going door-to-door with tarps as well.
DJ’s Grille has partnered with Operation BBQ to provide 2500 free meals!
LOCATION CHANGE: East Side of St. James High School enter off Hwy 20 and drive around back. Meals are served on a first come first served basis. Serving should start at noon on September 6, 2021. 4 plate maximum for vehicle.
Crisis Clean Up:
Several volunteer groups who will be in the parish in the coming days to assist residents with cutting tree limbs, and storm clean up.
The Church of Latter Day Saints has established a Crisis Clean Up line where residents can call 844-965-1386 to place a work order for assistance.
